Charlotte, North Carolina Fire Engineer Mark T. Franklin suddenly passed away on the morning of November 30.
His death is attributed to complications from surgery following an on the job injury that occurred on April 18, 2003.
Franklin, 46, was a dedicated member for 21 years with the Charlotte Fire Department. He joined the department in 1982 after graduating from Myers Park High School and earning his degree at Catawba College in Physical Education.
He worked many years in some of the busier fire stations, including Station 10 and his final assignment as Engineer for Engine 2.
A loving husband and father, Franklin leaves behind his wife Robin, of 18 years, and two sons, Brock, 15, and Chance 13.
A service to celebrate the life of Engineer Franklin will be held today (Tuesday, Dec. 2) at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road.
A graveside service will follow at Sharon Memorial Park on N. Sharon Amity Rd. Pallbearers accompanying Franklin are his fellow firefighters from Fire Station 2. Honorary pallbearers will be other Charlotte Fire Department members.
