Maryland ERT Dies In Crash

Emergency Response Technician was on his way home from paramedic class.

Prince George's County, MD Fire Chief Ronald Blackwell announced the death of Emergency Response Technician Nadar Hammett.

ERT Hammett died during a motor vehicle crash that occurred on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Monday night while driving home from paramedic school.

The two-car crash occurred at 10:30 p.m. on the Parkway north of Powder Mill Road. The crash investigation is being conducted by the United States Park Police.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with ERT Hammett's family during this time of tragic and untimely loss," said Chief Blackwell.

ERT Hammett, age 29, resided in Randallstown, MD. He is survived by his parents and four siblings. Hammett was a three-year veteran of the Department assigned to the Berwyn Heights Station. Additional details will be made available in accordance with family wishes and as they become available.
