One Dead, Several Injured in Queens Fire

(Ozone Park-WABC, January 3, 2004) -- An early morning tragedy in Queens. A fire in the Ozone Park section has killed at least one person. Several others are hurt.

At 2:36 Saturday morning at 111-111 Liberty Avenue -- a three-story building in Ozone Park -- one man, Ashram Katwarol, died in a fire. His 18-year-old relative was rushed to the hospital, having suffered cardiac arrest. Although he was revived, he is still in very serious condition. A third resident and three firefighters had to go to the Jamaica Hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes, but the damage had already been done.
