A firefighter has been charged in the death of a Mooresville High School student.

Seventeen-year old Steven Terrell died early Saturday morning in a one-car accident on Mann Road in Morgan County. He was driving home after celebrating a football victory.

Court documents say that in the hours before the accident Terrell drank beer and told a friend that he had taken the drugs oxycontin and a muscle relaxer.

It was a night of celebration in which Terrell helped his team advance in the state football sectionals.

Now, Perry Township Fire Lieutenant Michael Dorsett is charged with providing alcohol contrary to state beverage alcohol laws, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

According to authorities, the 47-year-old Dorsett is the father of a Mooresville High School student who allowed Terrell to drink beer and had previously allowed his son's friends to drink at his place.

Arrangements are being made for Dorsett to turn himself in.

Police also say students are starting to come forward to discuss what they know.
