Savannah firefighters had their hands full overnight with a huge blaze on the city's south side. About 12:45am, someone called saying it appeared a fire was raging behind Toys R Us. When the first firefighters arrived, they found a building used for storage by Gordon's Wrecker Service in flames, with heavy smoke blanketing the area. They called for backup and soon help arrived.

It appears the blaze started in the back of the building, in a yard where cars are kept before they're repaired. The fire quickly spread to the roof. Firefighters had to keep the blaze from spreading to the body shop next door where flammable chemicals are stored. They used a snorkel truck, then others went inside the building with hoses.

It took about three hours before all of the hot spots were out. The building was a total loss, but fortunately there were no injuries. Now investigators are looking into how that fire started.
