Did you know that the Los Angeles Fire Department averaged 1,984 responses each day during the last quarter of 2003?

During the months of October, November and December 2003, LAFD resources made 182,555 responses to 90,183 emergency incidents. This is a 5% increase in incidents and a 5% increase in responses compared to the same three-month period the year before.

Thankfully, our City's leaders are keenly aware of these burgeoning demands upon our Department, and continue to make the many life safety services provided by the LAFD a top priority.

While the LAFD is comprised of many types of resources, such as Engines, Aerial Ladder Trucks, Pumps, Paramedic and non-Paramedic Ambulances, Command Staff and Special Resources, I'd like to offer you a glimpse at the busiest Engine Companies in the City of Los Angeles.

While working hard to address these challenges, rest assured that the men and women of the LAFD remain focused not on numbers, but on the quality of care and service provided to those who visit, reside and work in America's second-largest city.
