A motorcyclist was killed on Interstate 595 Saturday morning when he collided with a pickup truck that lost control trying to avoid another vehicle and flipped over, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Eduardo E. Munoz, 32, was headed west on his Suzuki motorcycle in the inside lane near University Drive at about 8:15 a.m., the police report said. Celio Velasquez, 29, of Lake Worth, was driving his Chevrolet pickup truck in the center lane at the time of the crash.

Velasquez lost control of the truck and started to flip when a small white car tried to change lanes, according to witnesses. As the truck turned over, Munoz's motorcycle crashed into the truck's undercarriage. The motorcycle flew into the median, tossing Munoz.

Davie Fire-Rescue medics rushed to the scene and took Munoz to Broward General Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries but did not have to go to the hospital. A passenger in the truck was not injured.

Witnesses described the third vehicle involved in the wreck as a small, white four-door car, but no one got a license plate number.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Highway Patrol at 954-845-6006.
