Las Vegas firefighters made a quick attack and prevented a potential disaster at an Eastside auto shop Saturday afternoon. No one was injured during the incident.

Firefighters responded to Adams Auto Sales, 1801 Fremont Street (Fremont/Bruce) at 12:26PM on Saturday.

When firefighters arrived, heavyblack smoke was showing from a 1-story concrete block building, which consisted of an auto repair and paint shop and offices for auto sales.

Because of the potential fuels and chemicals involved, a second alarm was dispatched. However, firefighters made a quick, aggressive attack and were able to put the fire out in a matter of minutes.

Firefighters discovered the fire was in a storage room, which contained several automotive chemicals and fuels.

The fire gutted the storage room. But firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the office and the shop area in which customer's cars were being repaired.

Damage was estimated at $10,000.

One of the workers told investigators she was alone outside showing a customer an auto for sale and noticed thick black smoke start to bellow from one of the doors on the front of the building.

Bystanders also stated at the same time black smoke started from several roof vents.

Fire investigators determined the fire started in the storage room but was unable to find the exact cause. The room contained several fuels and items that burn along with several ignition sources.

There were no injuries in connection with the incident. The fire was ruled accidental.
