LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Divers found a body inside a small plane that crashed into the ocean Saturday about a half-mile from the Port of Los Angeles, authorities said.

U.S. Coast Guard Officer Lance Jones said the plane was found in water 52 feet deep. The body was not immediately identified, and it was unclear whether anyone else had been aboard.

The plane went down about 10 a.m. between the Los Angeles Lighthouse and Cabrillo Beach, said Art Marrujo, dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

An oil slick and limited debris were visible from the surface.

``We have divers down, but it's pretty low visibility down there,'' Jones said.

The model of the plane wasn't immediately known. Eyewitnesses described the craft as a small plane, possibly a Cessna.

The Coast Guard had contacted local airports but no planes were reported missing.

Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board were involved in the investigation.
