Pennsylvania Firefighter Rescues Two Children From Apartment Fire
The state police fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the 11:14 a.m. fire at 1165 Sycamore St.
The two-story frame home is owned by Wendy Debnar.
A fire report indicates off-duty firefighter Jim Ward rescued the occupants of the second-floor apartment, Vickki Bredniak, and 6-month-old Fiona Bredniak.
Also escaping the blaze were first-floor occupants Shawn Vaden, Shana Ellis and 6-year-old Tavian Hooper.
No injuries were reported. While Debnar has insurance on the house, neither family was insured, firefighters said.
The fire caused heavy smoke and fire damage to the first-floor living room. The first and second floors sustained heavy smoke damage.
Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours.
