Boulder's fire chief is under fire after the majority of union members issued a vote of no confidence.

Larry Donner has been Boulder's fire chief since 1991, and is president of the state Fire Chiefs Association.

Union leadership met with Boulder's city manager Thursday to discuss its concerns about Donner, saying that 92 percent of Boulder's firefighters union voted no confidence in Donner, citing safety concerns and morale issues.

"This is an overwhelming majority of our firefighters stating we need a new fire chief," said Clayton Holmes, president of the Boulder Firefighter's Union, Local 900. "We can no longer support Chief Donner, we don't believe he can effectively run this fire department."
