WOODBURY -- A Curtis Avenue family of seven was left homeless after a two-alarm blaze destroyed their three-story home Monday, injuring a resident and a firefighter.

The fire apparently started about 2 p.m. in the back of the brick house at 29 Curtis Ave. and spread through the second and third floors.

A firefighter was treated for minor hand burns at the scene. Delores Thompson, whose family occupies the house, injured her foot but refused treatment at the scene, according to city Emergency Management Coordinator Sgt. Stephen Cope.
