Five Jersey City firefighters were injured in a three-alarm blaze in a vacant Duncan Avenue building on Saturday morning, fire officials said.

An arson investigation is still under way, but the fire is being called suspicious, Fire Capt. Andrew Johnson said. The injuries - mostly cuts and bruises - were suffered when firefighters fell through numerous holes that had been cut into the floors of the three-story, six-family building, which was undergoing renovations, he said.

Firefighters arrived at the fire, on Duncan Avenue between Kennedy Boulevard and Duncan Court, at 8:14 a.m., Johnson said. The fire was upgraded to a two-alarm blaze within five minutes, and a third alarm was called at 8:22 a.m., he said.
