Dec. 14--An intoxicated teen who was clipped by a train Tuesday night got lucky and only suffered a dislocted finger and cuts to his hand and ankle.

At approximately 11 p.m., Lodi police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the train tracks just off of Salas Park on Stockton Street where it was reported a person had been hit by a train.

Paramedics found a 17-year-old boy, under the influence of alcohol, but alive, according to Lt. Fernando Martinez of the Lodi Police Department.

Martinez said witnesses had seen the man jump out of the way just in time, but his left hand extended behind him.

As a result, part of the train dislocated one of his fingers and caused lacerations to the man's left hand and ankle, Martinez added.

He was transported to Lodi Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and later released, Martinez said.

The police did not arrest the boy, but Martinez did say he was "very lucky."
