Officials said Tuesday the man accused of causing the fatal accident in Glen Park had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Town of Watertown Judge Don Maring told 7 News that 53 year old Wayne Mlotkiewicz (pictured) of County Route 53, Dexter, had a blood-alcohol content of .20 percent.

The threshold for an automatic driving-while-intoxicated conviction is .08 percent blood-alcohol content.

State police said Mlotkiewicz was driving from an undisclosed bar on State Street in Watertown, when he lost control of his 1980 Mercedes and struck a husband and wife as they planted flowers in Glen Park Monday night.

The car overturned and came to rest on nearby railroad tracks.

Mlotkiewicz, who was uninjured, was charged with driving while intoxicated, vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault and failure to reduce speed approaching a curve.

Mlotkiewicz was arraigned on the charges was ordered held in lieu of $5,000 bail. Bail had not been posted as of Tuesday afternoon.

State police said Mlotkiewicz is a postal employee, who lives in Breezy Knoll Trailer Park.

Investigators said he moved from New Jersey to the North Country 11 years ago.

Police said there was no prior conviction for DWI in Mlotkiewicz's record.

The crash killed 48 year old Frank Postorino and critically injured his 52 year old wife, Joan.
