Seattle Fire Dept. Celebrates 100 Years Of Service
In 1903, the fledgling Seattle Fire Department created Engine 8, giving its crew a brand new, horse-drawn steam fire engine. The steam engine allowed firefighters to pump hundreds of gallons of water per minute onto a fire.
