Retired New Jersey Fire Chief Passes Away
John R. Gerity of Grand Lake Stream, Maine, a former Summit resident, died yesterday in Overlook Hospital, Summit.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Teresa of Avila Church, Summit. Arrangements are Wm. R. Dangler Funeral Home, Summit.
Mr. Gerity joined the Summit Fire Department in 1969 and retired in 1994 as the fire chief.
He served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War.
