The FDNY is cracking down on firefighters accused of abusing sick days.
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta says 20 firefighters with the most sick leave absences are set to be transferred.
They'll be moved to less busy firehouses, which may seem appealing to someone who calls in sick a lot. But within the FDNY it's considered a demotion.
Those being transferred averaged at least 40 sick days a year.
Stephen Cassidy, president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, said singling out a few firefighters sends the wrong message to others.
