Local Firefighters, Police Get Homeland Security Funds

Local emergency departments have received more than $490,000 in domestic preparedness grants from the Department of Homeland Security. Local police, ambulance and fire departments will use this infusion of cash to offset the cost of heightening security and to better prepare towns and cities to handle major crises.
