Russian Fire Rules May Close Countless Schools

With less than two weeks to go before the start of the school year, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Tuesday that thousands of schools may remain closed come Sept. 1 because of poor fire safety standards. The warning came the same week that tough new rules regarding health and safety in schools were published in the local media.
