Joseph Kinan, 34, was released Wednesday afternoon from Massachusetts General, hospital spokeswoman Christine Johanson said. Kinan's family said he has been moved to a rehabilitation center in Boston.
Kinan had been hospitalized since the Feb. 20 fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick. The blaze, sparked by a band's pyrotechnic display, engulfed the building within minutes.
Kinan, of Canton, Mass., suffered burns over the upper half of his body, and lost his fingers and parts of his nose and ears. He has undergone more than 30 surgeries, and his attorneys have said his medical bills may top $4 million.
Kinan's release came the same day Gov. Don Carcieri announced the state has received a $494,568 federal grant to provide mental health treatment to those affected by the fire.
Also Wednesday, West Warwick town officials were deposed by attorneys representing victims' families and fire survivors, who are trying to build a case against product manufacturers and others they say are responsible for the fire's rapid spread and toxic fumes.
Town Manager Wolfgang Bauer, Fire Chief Charles Hall and Police Chief Peter Brousseau left attorney Max Wistow's office Wednesday without revealing what they were asked. Five other town officials also appeared.
