Thirteen people are recovering from injuries after a car careens out of control in Jersey City. Three of them are in serious condition.

Police say the driver was 78-year-old Henry Clax. Clax was asked to move his car on Kennedy Boulevard outside the old Stanley Theater, and instead of putting it in drive, he drove backwards into a parked car behind him. Clax then apparently panicked and shot forward striking three lamposts then a crowd of people, most of whom were leaving the Stanley Theater which is now a Jehoviah's Witnesses assembly Hall.

Luke Allain, Jehoviah's Witness: "It had just ended. People were just filtering out. We probably had 30-40 people on the sidewalk. We could have easily had triple that and it could have been a lot worse."

Clax has been issued a summons for failure to control his vehicle. He may face additional charges. But police have ruled out alcohol and mechanical problems as factors in the accident.
