BERWICK, Pa. (AP) -- A small oil fire damaged a pump that provides water to one of two reactors at a nuclear plant, and the reactor was operating Thursday at reduced power.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, said Joe Scopelliti, spokesman for PPL's Susquehanna plant. The fire was put out quickly late Wednesday and there were no injuries or threat to the public.
Power was reduced to 65 percent at the affected reactor while repairs to the pump were being made. The second reactor was unaffected and remained at full power.
PPL Corp. is an energy company based in Allentown. The plant is in east-central Pennsylvania.
