The Buffalo fire department and police are in the midst of a spectacular rescue operation, trying to bring a construction worker from a partial building collapse to safety. It's happening in a building undergoing renovations at Johnson Park between Elmwood and Delaware Avenue.

Five construction workers were initially reported trapped when the ceiling collapsed on the sixth floor. One man remained trapped for about an hour in a bobcat. He was very gingerly removed and is receiving medical attention.

Crews are concerned about the safety of firefighters as well. The building is very old and they are worried about asbestos contamination. The men were remodeling the abandoned building for luxury apartments.
