Conn. Ladder Truck Smashes Into Car

-- Dec. 17--ANSONIA -- A firetruck responding to what turned out to be a false alarm collided with a car Thursday evening, sending a city woman to the hospital . According to police Lt. Andrew Cota, an Eagle Hose Company 7 ladder truck was responding to a fire alarm at 6:30 p.m. It was going south on Main Street when the car, a Saturn, came out of Kingston Drive and the vehicles crashed.

Dec. 17--ANSONIA -- A firetruck responding to what turned out to be a false alarm collided with a car Thursday evening, sending a city woman to the hospital .

According to police Lt. Andrew Cota, an Eagle Hose Company 7 ladder truck was responding to a fire alarm at 6:30 p.m. It was going south on Main Street when the car, a Saturn, came out of Kingston Drive and the vehicles crashed.

The unidentified woman, 55, was sent to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Cota said. The firefighters were shaken up, but uninjured.

The truck had some heavy damage to the left side, and the firetruck had moderate damage to the right front, but is still in service, Cota said.

The investigation is continuing.
