04 May - Just minutes after 7pm, the assignment sounded for 9923 Goodluck Road, on box 4825, for a fire reported in apartment T3. The assignment brought Engine's 484 and 482, from West Lanham 48, Engines 282, 283, and Truck 28, from West Lanham 28, as well as units from surrounding companies.

As crews were in route, communications advised incoming units that several calls were being received, including one indicating a trapped wheel chair bound occupant in the fire apartment. First arriving, Engine 482, transmitted layout instructions, and reported level one operations, as heavy fire was venting from the first and second floor, extending to the third on side three.

Crews from 48 deployed hand lines, and advanced to the basement fire apartment, while crews from Truck 28 followed, initiating a search, and opening up the fire rooms, and hallway. The search was negative, as all occupants had exited the building as crews were arriving. Crews from 28 deployed an additional line to the second floor via ground ladder, and begun pushing forward through heavy fire and high heat conditions.

The second alarm was transmitted at 1921 hours as the fire was pushing to the third floor. Crews from 48 were containing the fire in the basement apartment, and due to aggressive tactics on the second floor, the fire was prevented from extending further into the third. The roof was opened by a member of Truck 28, and line deployed to the roof. Excellent work was made by crews from 48 and 28, as a successful stop was made on the fire.

Volunteer Chief 28 (Alter) held the West Lanham Command, Volunteer Chief 28A (Larkin) held operations, Volunteer Chief 28B (Miller) held interior, and Volunteer Chief 48B, acting as Battalion Chief 2, initially having the command, had the operations sector. No injuries were reported, and crews operated until 2240.
