"We had five fires in the same house," said Assistant Fire Marshall Jerry Worley, Petersburg Fire Department. "We had it torn down."

Petersburg has been plagued by an arsonist since the beginning of May. Firefighters have run repeated calls to buildings they have already extinquished fires in. "It's costing the city thousands of dollars in manpower and use of equipment," Worley said.

"We're working hard to solve this case. We had Captain Mike Morton of Richmond FD bring his specially trained arson dog Bailey, a Black Lab. We gathered samples and sent them to the lab in Richmond for testing."

"Small things lead to big things. This needs to be stopped. We are pursuing several leads," Worley stated.

Petersburg is now offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the arsonist.
