This story might sound familiar: a woman visiting New York gives birth in the back of a taxi with the help of firefighters.

But here's a twist you probably weren't expecting: she's done this before, with the help of firefighters from the same fire station. Two years ago, to be exact.

In January of 2001, Ladder Company 114 was alerted that a woman was giving birth at a house on 52nd Street near Fifth Ave., in Brooklyn.

Firefighter Robert Adams, an 11-year veteran, raced on foot to the scene to find Lourdes Guzman about to give birth. Adams helped deliver a healthy baby girl.

Then today, just before 8:00 this morning, Ladder 114 was again alerted that a woman was in labor, this time in a taxi cab in front of the same address.

Firefighter Andrew Gilmore, also an 11-year veteran, raced around the corner to find the same woman, Lourdes Guzman, and helped her deliver a baby boy.

There were some tense moments because the baby, not due until August, weighed just three pounds and was not breathing. Firefighter Gilman resucitated the minutes old infant, who is said to be doing well tonight.

In both cases, Ms. Guzman was in the neighborhood visiting family when she delivered.
