Firefighter Charged with Homicide by Vehicle in Teen Fire Explorer's Death

A veteran Wyoming firefighter who friends and others say had a history of alcohol problems and offenses has been charged with homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol in the death of a promising, popular teen fire explorer in a rollover crash Thursday night.

Ron J. Caillier, 46, of the Newcastle Volunteer Fire Department, could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. On Thursday night, Caillier and 16-year-old Anndee Huber, a 10th grader (Victim Profile) who was president of her class at Newcastle High School, were responding to a grass fire in Weston County when the accident occurred.

According to law enforcement sources and reports, about six miles outside of Newcastle Caillier drifted the 1981 Freightliner tanker off the roadway. When he overcorrected, the unit went into a skid and overturned 1 3/4 times, a Wyoming Highway Patrol report stated.

Caillier was tested 2.5 hours after the accident with a portable breathalizer, and according to the investigating trooper
