Approximately 1,300 people took the DC Firefighter/EMT entrance test at the DC Convention Center. The test, which is a general knowledge competency gauge, is given to candidates hoping to become District firefighter/EMTs.

More than 1,700 applications were taken on March 29th. From that pool, 1,503 signed up to take the test.

"This was a great turnout," said DC Fire & EMS Chief Adrian H. Thompson. "It certainly shows the interest of firefighters across the region to become part of our service."

The test will be graded and the candidates ranked according to scores. Once compiled, the Fire & EMS Department will have a quality pool of candidates from which to draw when hiring begins.
