This is an amazing story from the Passaic River. The rescue happened on the river between Newark and Kearny. Police worked for almost two hours trying to rescue a dog that wandered out to an iceberg.

The dog was spotted just before 9:00 a.m. and authorities tried to get out there with a rubber boat to save the dog. However, they couldn't do it because the icebergs were too dangerous. They had to row on a boat out to the dog. When they finally reached the dog, they got a hook around the canine and pulled him into the boat.

After the rescue, they were so far off shore that the rowboat they used had to be towed into shore. There were numerous agencies at the scene of this rescue, including the NYPD, which sent a helicopter to assist.
