MANAHAWKIN, N.J. (AP) -- A tour bus crashed and fell on its side Friday on the Garden State Parkway, killing at least one person and injuring at least 25, state police said.

The state police spokesman, Sgt. Kevin Rehmann, said the bus crashed shortly before noon.

``It appears to be a significant accident,'' Rehmann said.

WPVI-TV in Philadelphia reported that 10 people were critically injured, although that could not be immediately confirmed.

The crash involved a tour bus, Rehmann said. It was not immediately known where it was headed.

Snow fell throughout New Jersey on Friday morning, and as much as 8 inches was on the ground in the southern portion of the state where the accident happened. It was not immediately known if weather was a factor in the crash, however.

One patient, a male, was taken to Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, said hospital spokeswoman Joyce McFadden.

``We have five other patients en route to us and we may end up with a total of nine,'' she said. She had no information on the nature or severity of any of the injuries.

The crash site is about 25 miles north of Atlantic City and about 100 miles south of New York City.
