7-Year-Old Killed in South Jersey House Fire

-- Dec. 29--A 7-year-old girl has died in a house fire in Pemberton Township, Burlington County, officials said. The cause of the fire on the 300 block of Seminole Trail is under investigation. The blaze was reported about 11:30 p.m. The child's parents were not home when the fire broke out, but that four other minors were in the one-story house, officials said. The oldest child tried to rescue the girl but was beaten back by flames and smoke.

Firefighters found the girl's body during a secondary search after the blaze was brought under control.
