A Raleigh firefighter was injured Monday while helping to put out a house fire in West Raleigh, authorities.

Fire officials did not release the name of the firefighter, who was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor burns to the legs, according to a Raleigh Fire Department press release made public today.

The fire was reported at 5:45 a.m. at 5125 Huntingdon Drive, a two-story, wood-frame home with brick veneer, fire officials reported.

When firefighters first arrived at the scene they saw fire shooting through the roof of the home, officials reported.

It took nearly 35 firefighters less than an hour to knock down the fire, but not before 60 percent of the nine-room home was destroyed. Firefighters said 12 people were displaced by the blaze, according to the fire report.

Raleigh police, the Red Cross and officers with the U.S. Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms were also at the scene.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, officials reported.
