Firefighter Suffers Burns in East Memphis Blaze

-- Jan. 02--An early-morning house fire in East Memphis resulted in a firefighter being taken to the hospital with second- and third-degree burns on his hands, officials said today. The fire at 6917 Tangleberry Cove was reported at 5:48 a.m., was under control at 6:36 a.m. and was out at 6:46 a.m., officials said. The injured firefighter, who was not identified, was taken to The Regional Medical Center at Memphis. The cause of the fire near Poplar and Kirby Parkway is under investigation.
