EL CAJON, Calif. -- A chihuahua named Mojo was resuscitated and revived after suffering from smoke inhalation in an El Cajon mobile home fire.

On Wednesday morning Heartland Fire & Rescue responded to reports of a mobile home fire in the 700 block of South Second Street, at the Lynnwood West Mobile Home Estates in El Cajon.

Responding firefighters encountered heavy smoke, but managed to extinguish the fire in approximately 20 minutes.

The owner escaped the fire unharmed, but during a search of the home, firefighter/paramedic Brendan Saffer found the owner's dog, a Chihuahua named Mojo, unconscious and near death.

Mojo was brought outside to safety, where firefighter/paramedic Travis Timmins used a pediatric oxygen mask to give oxygen to Mojo, and resuscitated Mojo after 10 minutes.

Mojo was then taken by the El Cajon Police Department Animal Control to the Broadway Animal Medical Center for treatment for smoke inhalation. Mojo is expected to make a full recovery.

The cause of the fire, which did an estimated $40,000 damage, is under investigation.
