Jan. 09--BRIDGEPORT -- A 39-year-old man died Sunday afternoon when he was pinned between the excavator he was using and the foundation of a house where he was working, fire officials said.
Around 4 p.m., firefighters responded to 156 Sunshine Circle for a report that a man had become wedged between a wall and his equipment, said Assistant Chief Dominick Carfi. The man was apparently ejected from the machine while he was using it and was crushed when it rolled backward and pinned him, Carfi said.
Fire officials used air bags to lift the excavator off the man. Once he was free, firefighters tried to revive him but they were unsuccessful.
The man's identity has not yet been released.
