LANCASTER CITY --

A dramatic rescue, as firefighters barrel through flames shooting ten feet in the air to get to an elderly Lancaster man. The fire began before 7:30 Monday morning in a home on Olive Street in Lancaster.

The burn victims are Bob and Nancy Clark. As of Monday evening, they are both listed in critical but stable condition.

"When we came down the alley there was significant fire shooting out the front door and windows. It was shooting about 10 feet out into the street," says Chief Timothy Gregg with the Lancaster City Fire Bureau.

Neighbors in the 600 block of Olive Street heard screams, ran outside and saw a 59 year old woman escaping.

"The lady was coming out so I sat her on the porch. The older man was upstairs yelling, trying to get out the top window but couldn't," says neighbor Georgie Ortiz.

An 86 year old man was trapped on the second floor, until firefighters arrive, aggressively attacking the fire. They ran through flames to rescue the man.

"I can't remember a more lucky individual, I mean just the fact he survived with that much fire on the first floor," says Chief Gregg.

Both husband and wife suffered burns and were taken to the hospital. $75,000 in damage was done to the home and its contents. Neighbors still in shock about what they witnessed.

"It was wild. Can't believe it. Can't believe it," says neighbor Vaughan Holland.

The cause remains under investigation, but initial clues show it may have started in the living room.
