Jan. 11--YORK, Pa. -- A fire Tuesday afternoon at Harley-Davidson in Springettsbury Township was already contained before York Area United Fire and Rescue crews arrived on scene, said Chief Robert McCoy.

Around 5:05 p.m., a small fire broke out on a ventilation filter, which Harley personnel had removed from the building by the time fire trucks arrived, he said.

Firefighters, he said, checked the machinery and found no injuries or damage to the building at Route 30 and Eden Road.

The incident, which didn't affect production, occurred between the plant's first and second shifts, so few people were in the building prior to its evacuation, said plant spokesman Michael DiMauro.
