Residents of a University of Arizona sorority had to find temporary housing after a fire damaged their house late Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was reported about 4:20 p.m. at the Alpha Phi sorority house in the 1300 block of East First Street on the UA campus, said Capt. Trish Tracy, a Tucson Fire Department spokeswoman.

The building's fire alarm sounded after the sprinkler activated in one of the rooms, Tracy said.

The sprinkler put out the fire and confined the damage to the room where it started. The fire was caused by an electrical malfunction with a television.

All 56 people in the building had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived.

No injuries were reported.

There was water damage and possible damage to the building's wiring system. Power may not be available until repairs are completed.

The Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona offered to house the women at a facility near Sabino Canyon until repairs are made, said Kristi Pallack, a marketing coordinator for the Girl Scouts.
