Jan. 12--UNION GAP -- A worker suffered significant burns Wednesday morning from an electrical system fire in a warehouse, firefighters said.

An update on the man's condition was not available Wednesday evening, but Union Gap fire Chief Chris Jensen said the man was initially taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and may have been transferred to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.

The man was part of a crew that was installing the electrical system in a warehouse at 3205 Bay Street for Rankin Equipment, a farm equipment manufacturer that is moving in.

Others in the area helped put out the fire with extinguishers as firefighters were responding. The first crews finished putting out the fire and tended to the patient, who was quickly taken away in an ambulance.

The man's name was not available. He was thought to be in his 20s.
