LAUREL, Md. -- A Prince George's County Fire spokesperson confirms that a D.C. firefighter collapsed while playing hockey in Laurel on Sunday.
According to spokesperson Mark Brady, the man was playing in a DC Fire Department vs. Prince George's Fire Department hockey game at the Gardens Ice House on Sunday around 5 p.m. when he went into cardiac arrest while on the ice. Brady says that both teams used CPR and an AED on the man, who he identifies as being in his 30s.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital by Prince George's County Fire/EMS personnel. Brady says the man was stabilized and then taken to another hospital where he remains in the critical care unit.
