Mich. Courthouse Evacuation Caused By a Cookie

A suspicious package was left outside the Berrien County Courthouse causing emergency personnel to evacuate the building Wednesday morning.

Jan. 25--ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- A suspicious package was left outside the Berrien County Courthouse causing emergency personnel to evacuate the building Wednesday morning.

Personnel from the courthouse noticed the package and called emergency crews around 11:21 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Police evacuated the building for safety, while they determined if the package was dangerous. St. Joseph Police Department, the St. Joseph Fire Department and the Berrien County Bomb Squad were on scene conducting the investigation.

After investigators secured the package, they found out it was a cookie. The scene is now clear.
