RIVERDALE, Md. -- A former firefighter was arrested for setting a fire in Prince George's County back in 2008, fire officials said Wednesday evening.

Gerard McBurnie Dixon, Jr., 23, of Bladensburg, is accused of starting a fire that lead to a firefighter's injury on June 28, 2008, fire officials said.

The fire happened on 4504 Kennedy Street, in Riverdale, fire officials said.

"On that date, firefighters from the Riverdale Fire/EMS Station and other nearby stations were alerted to a house on fire at 3:25 am and arrived to find heavy fire showing. A firefighter sustained minor burn injuries while battling the fire," fire officials said in a news release.

Dixon faces 30 years in prison or or a maximum fine of $50,000, or both.

Fire officials say additional arrests may still be made in this incident, therefore, the fire is still under investigation.
