An elderly woman was killed Saturday after her car was hit by a Denver fire truck responding to a call.
Engine 22 was responding with its lights and sirens activated to a kitchen fire when a car driven by an 80-year-old woman apparently didn't stop for a red light, according to The Denver Post.
The fire engine unseccessfully attempted to avoid the Sonata, but slammed into the car. The engine then collide with a Jeep Liberty waiting at the stoplight, pushing it into a Lexus behind it, police told reporters.
Neither the other drivers nor the firefighters aboard the engine was hurt in the 11:22 a.m. collision.
Crews extricated the woman from her wrecked car, and performed CPR, authorities said.
