Feb. 02--Unattended candles, left burning inside a Fort Wayne home, caused a Thursday morning blaze that left one firefighter hurt but in good condition, authorities said.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded at 8:41 a.m. to a house in the 2000 block of Andrew Street, just southeast of Sherman and West State boulevards, and found smoke coming from the home. Witnesses at the scene said someone was still inside, but firefighters did not find anyone when they searched the home.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze in 15 minutes, but the home sustained heavy smoke damage. A firefighter was hurt and taken to a local hospital in good condition, according to a department new release.
