Child, Four Adults Rescued at Chicago Apartment Fire

A three-year-old child was transported to Children's Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

CHICAGO -- Firefighters battled a large fire in a Lincoln Park apartment building Friday night.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, a three-year-old child was transported to Children's Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Four adults, including one Chicago Police officer, were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The fire appears to have started in the kitchen of a unit on the second floor, officials said.

The seven-story building is part of the Fullerton Court Apartments.

Further details were not immediately available.
