Feb. 06--A four-alarm fire ripped through an apartment building in Chester early today, displacing about 45 people, officials said.
No serious injuries were reported in the blaze in a 3-story building in the Wallingford Apartments on the 2700 block of Madison Street.
The fast moving blaze was reported about 12:45 a.m. and declared under control around 1:30 a.m., officials said.
The Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania said about 45 people who live in 25 units were displaced by the fire.
The disaster relief agency said most of the residents had somewhere else to stay and that it would provide shelter to about a handful who had no where to go.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
