Feb. 07--LINDSEY, Ohio -- A Sandusky County man suffered serious burns and four others were injured in a mobile home fire early Tuesday.
Jared Marker, 34, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, where he was in critical condition. Leola Charles, 31, who suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation, was in serious condition at Physician's Choice Hospital in Fremont where three children -- Alannah Charles, 13, Adrian Williams, 11, and Alexander Marker, 4 -- were in good condition, a spokesman said.
Lindsey Fire Chief John Zimmerman said firefighters were called to the Apollo Mobile Home Park on State Rt. 523 in Rice Township about 1:30 a.m. after Mr. Marker apparently was awakened by a smoke detector. All five occupants of the mobile home were outside by the time fire crews arrived.
The mobile home was destroyed by the fire, which is under investigation by the state fire marshal's office.
