Feb. 07--LEBANON -- An intense fire tears through six rowhomes in the City of Lebanon sending dozens of people running for their lives. Flames broke out shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday along the 500 block of North 9th Street.

In all, six homes many of which were subdivided into separate apartments, were damaged in the blaze displacing a total of twenty-seven people, including a dozen kids, according to fire officials. The damage is so extensive to the buildings that five of the six of the rowhouses are being torn down immediately so firefighters can finish putting out the flames.

Everyone managed to escape the early morning fire. Six people were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. One firefighter battling the blaze suffered a minor injury to his leg.

The Lebanon City Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire but right now it does not appear to be suspicious.

North 9th Street will be closed for a considerable amount of time while crews start the demolition of the building.

The Red Cross is supporting most of the families with immediate shelter, food and clothes.
